Making portraits of people is something that I've only gotten serious about in the last year or so and I love it! As much as I enjoy photographing other subjects, people in front of a camera are so very interesting. The process of connecting with another person with a camera is really remarkable. And there really isn't anything I can think of more gratifying than the reaction people have when they see their portraits or tell me about how their mother responded to the surprise gift of a family photo. It's an amazing thing to be part of and I feel very lucky to participate in creating those images.
The Mountain Runner Portrait Series continued in 2013.

Working with models has been a great way to develop my portraiture and lighting skills and it's a blast to collaborate with someone to make an image!

I did more family portraits in 2013 than I've ever done and I'm so grateful for the opportunity. It's great fun and I look forward to doing more of this work in 2014!
And here's where I get to self-indulgently show photographs of my children...
